Oh Heidi...I'm feeling your pain. I too hate packing with a passion...ergo, the night before we travel/fly anywhere I usually drink a few glasses of wine (and after reading the comments, I am NOt the only one to do this!!!) and then just get to it!!

Aww, I understand, the moments are ticking down. Enjoying them while getting ready to leave must be so tough.
You sure have had an amazing trip so far and reading about all that you have done over the last year is what got me thinking about moments in the first place. You have packed so many memories into this experience and I hope that when you look back over adventure that you have no regrets. I can see how it would be so sad to pack up, I wouldnt even know where to start.
I wish you the best in it though.

I'm feelin' ya. I detest packing, so I pack too much for me and Laura. My husband packs only for himself, while commenting Out Loud that I'm packing too much, but then he runs out of shirts halfway through the trip, NEVER has a single long-sleeved shirt or a sweatshirt, and only one pair of shoes that gets wet the first day. It's ugly, I tell you, ugly.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was really that easy, Heidi? I just think the whole situation--not just the packing--is stressful. But, it will all be okay eventually.

I spend days packing mine and the kids stuff for vacations. The day before we are set to leave, hus will throw in a few pairs of undies, a bathing suit, and maybe 2 outfits and he is done.

I don't mind packing but I let it be known that if I don't get any help then I decided what stays and what goes (to the dump). That always seems to make them more eager to help. They know I will pack books and dishes with loving care, but I am very likely to accidentally break or forget their movies, computer games, and toys. =)

I think packing drunk is a wonderful option. I *love* packing for trips; loathe unpacking upon arriving home. Yours is a unique twist on packing to COME home! Ack - the stress!!

(I find if I "out" my husband on my blog, he either pitches in or gets totally ticked. Let us know how your hubs reacts. *grin*)

Do you ever think it's worth the cost to just leave everything and buy it again new when you reach the new place? Every time I move, that's how I feel. I really don't need those plate - think how much fun it would be to buy new ones:) The worst was packing the office to move because that was mostly NOT my stuff and I hate doing all the work when others do nothing because they have deadlines to meet - yeah right! They just hate packing and moving as much as I do. Bleah! I feel your pain and now I do not envy you quite as much as before:}
