An Easter To Remember

Yes, it was COOOOLD.... Fortunately, our cottage is equipped with both heated floors and a highly efficient wood burning stove. Once we'd crawled out of bed and put on a fire, we were toasty warm in no time.

And truthfully, the cold was a blessing in disguise, because it meant a stop to the raging snowstorm that had kept us cooped up inside for most of the previous day, while the cottage slowly disappeared in the masses of snow coming down from the heavens:

Of course, a little snow didn't stop the kids from having a blast:

But the adults got noticeably more active once the sun peaked out and heated things. Fabulously long skiing trips ensued, with and without children:

We also managed some outdoor lunches, barbecuing hotdogs and sandwiches, and even a bit of suntanning. That's viking blood for ya!

The kids, meanwhile, continued their frolicking with slides down the mountain side:

And the cottage roof:

However, Easter in Scandinavia is really all about food and aquavit (however did you know, Rima?), and even far away from civilization in the mountains we enjoyed excellent meals:

Thus, despite vigorous skiing, I am certain not an ounce of weight was shed. Which may have been a problem had spring been around the corner, but with the forecast calling for snow, snow, and more snow, I'm not worrying just yet.

Though I am considering putting in a call to Al Gore. He may need to revise his inconvenient truth a little bit, as the Norwegian weather gods clearly aren't playing on his team...

(I usually have to crane my neck and look waaaaay up to read this sign).

Ooh, the first to comment. I'm starting to feel like I need to have a standard comment where I talk about how incredibly jealous I am! Sledding off a roof - I love it!

I can't believe how much snow is there. That is unbelievable. And totally breathtaking.

Wow! The snow is incredible! I don't think I would mind winter so much if I spent it how you have all spent this one.
Looks like you had a very happy Easter!

Wow - and I felt sorry for myself here in Minnesota with only 6 inches of snow falling on Easter weekend. Looks like fun! Not as fun as a beach in the summer - but fun! :)

Yes, email the link to this to Al Gore.

I'm stuck on the suntanning with the rolled-up pant legs - are you sure you Norwegians are warm-blooded creatures?

So I'm guessing that Easter egg hunts are conducted inside?

Oh my goodness, that is a lot of snow. Just as well you all DO have Viking blood!

You make snow look like fun. Not at all like the spring I soooooo need.

I need it more than anything in the world right now. Sun and warmth.

Viking blood is certainly different than Lebanese blood. ;-)

Looks like a fantastic Easter and to see you all embrace the snow and winter like this.....it is good for my soul!
I will learn from this...at least I will try.

Oh, it looks like you had a great time. And yes, with your weather and the weather we are having down here, I am not a believer in global warming :)

Is it normal to drool over snow? That looks like the kind of snow most kids only get to dream about. I love the thought of Vikings sunbathing in that winter wonderland.

Sunbathing? That is so crazy. Glad your holiday was wonderful!

The promise of pix such as these makes no update from you a little bit easier to take :)! Such beauty; such incredible beauty. It is so incredible cool that you're doing this. How on earth will you ever be able to leave. Seriously!

Oh, I know all about the aquavit, alright. One of my best friends married a Norweigan, and the aquavit was flowing at their reception. Some of it even flowed right down my gullet.

Um, I just posted my last two comments as the P-Dawg. By accident.
