Cranky

So I cracked open the first bag bright and early this morning, to get started on the monumental task of packing.

The bag's now sitting on the living room floor with one winter coat in it, two toques and four belts.

It took me six hours to get that far.

B boy is downstairs with a couple of buddies making lots of noise. Christopher is there, too, on MSN with some girl from class. They seem happy.

I'm not.

I loathe packing. And I've already pointed out to my husband the injustice of me doing all this work (above mentioned coat, toques and belts), and him doing nothing and being absolutely useless. Twice.

Good times...

My ENTIRE family knows not to even talk to me on packing days. I despise packing - I hate making all those decisions about clothing - what I'll be wearing, how and when and ARGH!!! It's way too hard. You have my sympathies!

Packing sucks. Just console yourself with the fact that were your husband to do it he wouldn't do it right!

Packing = hell. I feel for you.

I feel your packing pain, sister.

I don't know what's worse - packing or unpacking. At least packing you have something to look forward to. Unpacking means all you have to look forward to is laundry.

You have my utter sympathy, I so hate packing, it makes me very grumpy. and resentful.
Hope you find some laughter today to lighten things up:)

the only silver lining with moving/packing.... I take it as chance to finally to get rid of some of the crap my husband has collected over the years. And then if he gets upset I play dumb and innocent..."What...Oh sorry I didn't know that was something you wanted to keep. You weren't hear to let me know... sorry"

Works like a charm :)
I swear I'm not a mean wife :)

I'm much better at packing than unpacking. But, truthfully, I'm cranky at both ends of it!

Do you ever think it's worth the cost to just leave everything and buy it again new when you reach the new place? Every time I move, that's how I feel. I really don't need those plate - think how much fun it would be to buy new ones:) The worst was packing the office to move because that was mostly NOT my stuff and I hate doing all the work when others do nothing because they have deadlines to meet - yeah right! They just hate packing and moving as much as I do. Bleah! I feel your pain and now I do not envy you quite as much as before:}

Packing is definitely a huge drag. You should work in lots of breaks and treats. :) Good luck.

I think packing drunk is a wonderful option. I *love* packing for trips; loathe unpacking upon arriving home. Yours is a unique twist on packing to COME home! Ack - the stress!!

(I find if I "out" my husband on my blog, he either pitches in or gets totally ticked. Let us know how your hubs reacts. *grin*)

I always end up doing ALL the packing/unpacking at my house also. I didn't think it was very fair either and I asked my husband to unpack 2 boxes of garage stuff after we moved- that's it....we moved last summer and this week, I finally got sick of seeing them and unpacked them myself!

I don't mind packing but I let it be known that if I don't get any help then I decided what stays and what goes (to the dump). That always seems to make them more eager to help. They know I will pack books and dishes with loving care, but I am very likely to accidentally break or forget their movies, computer games, and toys. =)

I spend days packing mine and the kids stuff for vacations. The day before we are set to leave, hus will throw in a few pairs of undies, a bathing suit, and maybe 2 outfits and he is done.
Happy Anniversary!

Don't leave Norway. Problem solved.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was really that easy, Heidi? I just think the whole situation--not just the packing--is stressful. But, it will all be okay eventually.

I say...sigh heavily a lot, eat chocolate, drink wine and look dejected. If nothing else, Mike will at least feel a little guilty (maybe). HAHAHAHA!

I'm sorry about the packing, darlin'. I'm with Kim-d. Chocolate and wine make everything easier.

I hate packing, too. Is there anyone who likes it? But unpacking is fun--I try and hold onto that...

Packing is only fun when you are excited to go somewhere. It is so much harder when you are giving up something so wonderful(even if you do want to go back home, it must be hard to leave).

Just stay...you won't need to pack :)

No really, I have no advice just a big hug for you hoping that you can get it all done.

Now, about this girl...?

I always end up doing all the packing and unpacking too. I despise it. And my hubby wonders why I don't want to make the trek up to the cabin more often. Grrr.
Good luck!

Packing sucks. As does unpacking. I guess there's a good chance that will fall to you too?

Aww, I understand, the moments are ticking down. Enjoying them while getting ready to leave must be so tough.
You sure have had an amazing trip so far and reading about all that you have done over the last year is what got me thinking about moments in the first place. You have packed so many memories into this experience and I hope that when you look back over adventure that you have no regrets. I can see how it would be so sad to pack up, I wouldnt even know where to start.
I wish you the best in it though.

According to my mother-in-law, the contact starts to slow down when they get married....unless they marry a FABULOUS woman and she maintains contacts. (She adds this for my benefit!!)

Hang in there...you can do it...don't give up...buy more wine...Go Heidi Go!!! :-D

I despise packing! The best thing about military moving is that the movers do everything for you. Woo hoo!
