And The Winner Is...

I love it. We've ordered it. Now we have to wait 12 - TWELVE - weeks for it to ship from Italy. In the meantime, we have floors to fix, plumbing to organize, walls to repair, bulkheads to remove, appliances to buy...

Can you see the dollar signs floating out of our front door? It's a little stressful, but really, the leak gave us no choice but to renovate the kitchen. So instead of worrying too much about the massive dent in our savings account, I am going to focus on the fact that I am getting a BRAND NEW kitchen. Woo-hoo!

This weekend has been designated 'family only weekend', meaning we are going to hang out with the boys and do as little socializing as possible. We've been on the go pretty much 24/7 ever since we left Norway at the end of April. A little bit of downtime is definitely what the doctor ordered. Maybe we'll catch the new Indy movie. Or perhaps just lounge by the pool. Nothing's planned, anything's possible. Including, I hope, a bit of time for blog hopping. I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone out there in blogland.

Happy Weekend!

Italian cabinets? How cosmopolitan. Color me jealous. And I bet, at the end (if I know anything about contractors) you might be wishing for a day or two MORE before they arrive.

Ooo, now that is a combo I like! My mom has always enjoyed the kitchen disasters because she always gets something new from it. Like the time I started an oven fire when I was 9 and she got a new oven. =)

Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

Being the seasoned traveler that you are, can't you work in a trip to Italy to pick it up? And do you get the ultra funky red chairs to go with? Can't wait to see the finished product.

You are so living my dream right now - I desperately want to remodel my kitchen, but can't really justify the cost at the moment.

Heidi, you will LOVE it! And 12 weeks will fly by. Best to get it done before winter, so the timing will be perfect!
I know a good place for plumbing fixtures - they can pretty well order anything, great prices etc. We'll talk!!

New kitchens rock.

I have friends that have a "dark" weekend once a month. No plans, period. It's a little drastic for me, but it works for them.

Oh those are beautiful! I can't wait to see pictures of your finished kitchen (sometime around Christmas?) What did you decide to do with the floor?

Have a wonderful, restful weekend.

And have fun on your family-only weekend! Every weekend is family-only since we don't have any friends. :-)

WOW! I am so jealous!
I'm going to be getting a new kitchen, too... But I don't think it will look like that. And I will be without a kitchen for quite awhile in the process... Think stove in the barn...
But you'll have it in time for winter, won't that be wonderful!

OMG--that is incredible-looking! Love it! Even though it's hard to watch the $$$ fly out the door, at least you will have something to show for it. It'll be fun to "go through" your renovations with you.

And thanks for your comment, Heidi. You are absolutely right, and the rational side of my brain knows that without a doubt. I've just got to keep THAT side of the brain engaged :). Really, thanks for the words of encouragement. You rock! Big hug for you!

I love your family time only. We have a lot of that. We are a family of hermits . . . not really, but sometimes I don't mind being all "hermit-ish"--hope you had a great weekend!

How was your weekend? I'm having a "do nothing but play with my baby" week. Jet lag does that to me..

:)

Anna-b-bonkers said...

Love your choice!! Who did you order through?
I am dying to get our plans underway at the lake house (counting down the days till possession now) and while back out in AB this week I saw the kitchen I loved (online) at IKEA. However in real life it was not nearly as nice.
I have a feeling I might be getting a custom dude and am not thrilled about that.

Have a great weekend chillin!

The family-only weekend sounds like a great plan! I ended up "running away" from my "real life" to my shack on the beach (that's really desperate for me, I hate it here!) to get away from all the demands on my life there. In fact, I was quoting you to my husband the other day, how my "friend" had taken off to Norway for 10 months, and it was really the best idea... and why do we live like such crazy people here, with all this stuff to do?

that is a foxy kitchen!

A new kitchen and a family weekend? Sounds pretty darn awesome to me....

Gorgeous. You have great taste. Hm. All the way from Italy, huh? I am in the midst of shopping for a modern/contemporary house-- but in THE SOUTH, I am more likely to find boring old Colonials and Cape Cods and maybe a Plantation style home... ugh.
